HARLEM TOWNHOUSE

HARLEM

With a long renovation, a limited color palette, and a more traditional style directive than our typical work, our Harlem project was exactly the design challenge we were looking for. To say we dove in without trepidation would be an overstatement - the beautiful, historic home had been carved into a multi-unit apartment building and needed extensive work - but with an architect and contractor who cared very deeply about the project and its history, and wonderful clients who were ready to have fun with it, we were very much “on-board.”

The preppy red, blue, and color adjacent palate that was requested helped us think differently about how to play with pattern and texture throughout. Saturated colors helped infuse new life into a lot of family furniture that was appropriated into the design and whimsical wallpapers, fixtures, and window treatments keep it all feeling collected and eclectic. From Koi fish swimming across the Dining Room walls, nautical nods from our lighting selections, and a favorite mosaic in the entry, carefully constructed moments create a whole lot of cohesion and delight for a house that is finally whole again.
