BELLA ZAKARIAN MANCINI

Bella believes a home should tell a story about the people who live there. To that end, she embarks on a journey with each client from the first conversation and knows that a trusting, collaborative relationship is the best way to approach design. Bella lives the way she works and works the way she lives; a wife, mother and businesswoman, Bella understands firsthand the pace of life in New York which translates into her specialization in residential interior design for real people living busy lives.

Bella moved from San Francisco to New York City in 1996, and has operated her interior design business from an airy studio in Union Square since 2000. She has a degree in Clothing and Textiles from San Francisco State University, and studied interior design at the New York School of Interior Design. Bella’s love of entertaining, gardening, travel, food and wine help her to find and develop her client’s personal sense of home, imparting a good balance for day-to-day living and high end design. Bella lives in DUMBO, Brooklyn, and Greenport, NY with her husband, Jeff, and their son and daughter.

A California girl at heart, Bella finds enormous inspiration from the beach. She finds sand, rocks, surf and sunsets help her to feel centered and help to inform her casual yet chic design sensibility.

KRISTYN BOCK

Kristyn joined BMD in spring 2013 as Senior Designer. Originally from Colorado, Kristyn moved to Los Angeles where she studied Graphic Design and Interior Design at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, earning degrees in both fields. During her early years on the West Coast, Kristyn gained experience in high-end residential and hospitality design offices, and honed her style as a freelance designer on several residential projects. Kristyn moved to NYC in 2010 where she continued residential design work in NYC and surrounding areas. She takes pride in forming a strong relationship with each client, as she believes that truly understanding and interpreting a client’s needs and desires is paramount in successful design.

Kristyn’s favorite part of each project is the final stretch of accessorizing. She loves to scour flea markets and home shows to discover unusual or found objects to finish off a room.

TARYN BURNS

After graduating from NYU in 2011 with a double major in Art History and Communications Taryn joined BMD. During college she pursued her interest in interior design with internships at House Beautiful and high-end design firms in Manhattan. Originally from San Diego, Taryn has lived between the east and west villages for five years, where her relaxed California aesthetic has developed into a sophisticated and bohemian point of view. A resident of Brooklyn, Taryn regularly frequents the museums and galleries of NYC and is particularly interested in 20th century art and design. At BMD, Taryn works as an assistant to the team, providing design and project management support.

Taryn loves the understated glamour of Belgian furniture design from the 1970′s. The mix of materials, like brass and agate, enable pieces to be organic and opulent at the same time.
